As a premium user of NordPass, you can now attach files to your saved entries. Naturally, these files are stored as securely as your passwords. Each account allows you to store up to 3 GB of data.

The types of files supported by NordPass are incredibly varied. From what I can see, virtually all files are supported. The graphic above is from the announcement and shows the supported file types, including the usual suspects like PNG, JPG, PDF, videos, audio, doc, and so on. The “unknown” should stand for all other file types.

In addition to the total 3 GB storage, there is another restriction. You can store up to 50 attachments per item, each of which can be up to 50 MB in size.

NordPass is one of the top password managers on the market, from the same company behind NordVPN.

Of course, how quickly you find important files depends on your own organization. However, you can definitely easily download files stored in NordPass – that’s a given.

The password manager, complete with a file vault, is available for all popular operating systems. You can use it on Linux, Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. There is also a web vault.

Browser extensions for the most common browsers are also available. The company officially supports Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, and Safari. By default, the useful function is activated that minimized tabs expand when you hover over them with the mouse. You have to decide for yourself whether you like this or not. With just one click, you can deactivate the behavior.

According to the team, there is predominantly positive feedback for the new feature. I’m not sure yet whether I prefer the vertical or horizontal view. I’ll find out over the next few days.

To make a bad situation worse, T-Mobile made the decision to attempt to buy all breached data rather than telling its customers what had happened. Instead,customers were eventually notified about the privacy breach through third parties, leading to a class-action lawsuit. 

T-Mobile will pay out $350 million which will be divided between customers whilst a further $150 million will be used to iupdate the company’s security through 2023 and help minimise the chances of further data breaches. It’s safe to say that this attack, along with the several other data breaches that T-Mobile has experienced over the past few years, has caused significant and possibly irreversible damage to the trust of its customers.

 Already, disgruntled users have taken to online forums to complain about the regular occurrences of these data breaches. We hope that further improvements to cybersecurity measures will help prevent this from happening again so T-Mobile can begin to repair its reputation. 

Although T-Mobile has admitted no guilt regarding the cyberattack, in August 2021 CEO Mike Sievert issued a public apology and stated that the company will “take significant steps to enhance its approach to cybersecurity”

This means that an attacker will not need to create their own phishing website and they can even automate the entire AiTM phishing process through open-source phishing toolkits. 

The rise of this phishing campaign demonstrates how cyber threats will continue to evolve as users and organisations place forward various security measures to defend themselves. The technology used in such attacks is becoming more sophisticated and much larger in scale, so it’s important for users to remain cautious and implement best practices to protect their organisations. 

Microsoft confirms that “While AiTM phishing attempts to circumvent MFA, it’s important to underscore that MFA implementation remains an essential pillar in identity security. MFA is still very effective at stopping a wide variety of threats; its effectiveness is why AiTM phishing emerged in the first place.”

What’s new in Tor Browser 11.5 ?

Last year version 10.5 of the browser software was released and it was the start of redesigning the connection to Tor. Among other things, the development team has purchased the Tor Launcher and the connection process has moved to the browser window.

So that you can bypass censorship in restrictive countries , however, there was a manual intervention that wasn’t really very clear. This is especially true if you are new to the subject. In the end, you had to figure out how to set up a bridge or jumper to unlock Tor on your own. Another problem is that Tor’s censorship is not uniform. A particular bridge configuration may work in one country but not in another.

So you as a user had to find out for yourself which option is the best. Often the result was not censorship-free Internet, but simply frustration. Tor Browser developers have worked with the Tor Project Anti-Censorship team and improved the connection wizard. There is a new feature that automatically applies a bridge configuration based on location . The software takes care of the selection of the respective method for you.

Connection Assist searches and downloads an up-to-date list using your location – with your permission, of course. The browser does not need to connect to the Tor network, but uses moat . It’s the same tool that Tor Browser uses to request a bridge from torproject.org.

However, the developers point out that the connection assistant is a version 1.0. This is a so-called milestone that will be improved in future versions. Above all, the development team wants to continue working on the user-friendliness. In addition, each bridge now has a unique QR code that can be read with future versions of Tor Browser for Android. At least that’s the plan. Other apps that work with Tor should benefit too. This makes it easier for you to transfer a working bridge from the desktop to the smartphone.

Only HTTPS – by default

HTTPS Everywhere is one of the extensions that used to be included with Tor Browser. It automatically switches connections to HTTPS if that is possible. All popular web browsers support automatic upgrade to HTTPS. Firefox, on which Tor Browser 11.5 is based, calls this feature HTTPS-only mode.

As of Tor Browser 11.5, HTTPS-Only mode is standard for the desktop versions and therefore HTTPS-Everywhere is no longer included.

Unlike the desktop version, Tor Browser for Android will continue to use HTTPS Everywhere for the short term.

The features presented here are all for the desktop versions of the browser. The team hasn’t gotten that far in terms of functionality with the Tor Browser for Android. The Tor project has repeatedly faced hurdles that have caused delays. Therefore, the roadmap for Android has been realigned. According to the company, there have been three priorities since the beginning of the year:

• Regular updates for Android
• Fixed the crashes experienced by many Android users
• Moving forward with the release of Fenix ​​(Firefox for Android).

The team now releases a new Android version at an average of a month. Also, updating Tor Browser to Fenix ​​v102 is a priority over the next few months.

So the development team is working on the Android version, but please be patient.

Improved font support
